A three month cycling challenge in IRIS fellow city Alexandroupolis kick started on June 3, 2020 in support of sustainable mobility policies and an urban development scheme to upgrade the city’s coast.
The aim of the challenge is to familiarise and promote cycling as a safe and environmentally friendly means of transportation. Cycling contributes to improving the quality of life and protecting the environment by reducing air pollution and noise, release public spaces by cars, while it increases comfort and safety conditions and therefore enhances the attractiveness of the city to residents and visitors.
Those who respond to the cycling challenge can record their cycling kilometres and win well-earned ice-creams, beverages and theatre tickets. The challenge will last from 3 June – 3 September.
