In 2019, public transport company and IRIS-partner Qbuzz are making sustainable, zero-emission transport a reality!
In the Dutch region Groningen-Drenthe, Qbuzz will deploy a fleet of 181 electric buses, allowing the company to drive around citizens without generating emissions. The e-fleet will consist of 159 battery-electric and 22 hydrogen-electric buses. The introduction of the e-fleet in Groningen-Drenthe amounts to the biggest transition to electric transport in Europe so far.
IRIS Lighthouse City Utrecht, the company already has 10 full electric buses in service since 2017. Within the project, Qbuzz are accelerating the switch to zero-emission public transport in Utrecht: monitoring and optimising e-bus charging infrastructure and exploring opportunities to connect with vehicle-to-grid solutions, making the buses part of a district-wide smart energy grid.30 Nov 2018
