We are proud to announce the launch of the IRIS project within the framework of the European Commission Smart Cities and Communities (SCC) Lighthouse projects.  IRIS was officially launched on the 1st of October 2017 and has received a total of 18 million € contribution funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program.

IRIS is a 5-year project aiming in the development of smart city solutions towards sustainable and eco-friendly urban environments. Within the framework of the projects, 16 solutions will be developed and demonstrated in cities across Europe, proving that through blending social innovation, engineering and ICT knowledge as well as smart technologies, cities can become greener places that take caution of resources and use them efficiently.

The 16 IRIS integrated solutions will be implemented, demonstrated and ultimately replicated in different districts of the 3 Lighthouse cities of Utrecht (the Netherlands), Gothenburg (Sweden) and Nice Côte d’Azur (France) and the 4 Follower Cities of Vaasa (Finland), Alexandroupolis (Greece), Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain) and Focsani (Romania).
